US Patriot Act or US Bill of Rights?

It's time to wake up America!  In the name of fighting terrorism, everything from your personal records to your very movement is being watched—and it's all authorized by our decade-old "emergency" law, the Patriot Act. As parts of the Patriot Act approach yet another renewal, John Whitehead warns that if we do not restore our rights soon, freedom as we have known it in America will be lost.

On vote of 315-97, the House of Representatives approved the bill, a day after it cleared the Senate.

Obama signs Patriot Act extension without reforms

Privacy advocates had called for greater oversight on aspects of the Patriot Act that give the government broad powers. But the version Obama signed Saturday moved through Congress unchanged.
